Since the technical aspects of the 1911 will be detailed elsewhere on the collection page, only the pre-A1 differences will be shown here. This particular specimen is dated to around 1917, but the exact date is unknown as it was modified shortly after its service life and the serial was not retained. Serials were not required until 1968, but was at one point on the rear right side of the frame. The 1911 differs from the 1911A1 in that it has no cuts behind the trigger guard, has a wider hammer spur, and a flat mainspring housing on the rear of the grip. This gun has been heavily used for almost the past hundred years and shows it, likely was reblued atleast once, but still holds a good group at fifteen yards. I'm the forth generation to possess this particular one.
